Albums
Toto's discography comprises 13 studio albums and four live albums. There are also a few compilations. Toto has released original music as well as collaborated with other artists on soundtracks and films. The band has received multiple Grammy Awards.
Before the formation of Toto the group, members worked as sessions for other musicians. David Paich, the son of session drummer Marty Paich, and Jeff Porcaro (the brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro and drummer Jeff Porcaro) all played on Boz Scaggsalbum from 1975 Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in the year 1976 following the collaboration.
Turn Back, Toto's third studio album was criticized by critics for not having hit singles. In 1985 the group's lead singer Fergie Frederiksen quit the group and the band held auditions to find a new frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the band recorded the 1986 album Fahrenheit.
In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by scouring through old tapes and demos to release a special record called Toto XX. The album was well-received by fans, and the band embarked on a tour that featured former members Bobby Kimball, Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
In the course of the tour for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun, drummer Leland Sklar quit the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In the year 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included tour recordings as well as an interview with the group.
