WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by +3. A random additional substat is also increased with each upgrade.
Upgraded gear generally sees higher trade value as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or very high stat variance (like eth titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as useful for the latter due to the need to roll a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader lets players
upgrade items their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be made on any kind of armor or weapons. However, the
Item level upgrade used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.
The upgrader is located in all major cities and is accessible anytime to upgrade your equipment. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each couple of weeks.
The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current level of the gear being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than buying new equipment from other sources. For example upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points, while purchasing the same
item upgrader kit from another player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are functional items which can be used to upgrade weapons, tools, armor, and other items. They can be purchased from item upgraders NPCs for various currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any weapon, tool or armor. The button will display the item's next upgrade level, in the event that there are enough materials.
Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot for the item and the current item level. For instance, weapons will cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each
upgrade items costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with some upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain degree and is degraded, it can be sold and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currency types.
Upgraders for items can be found in many places including the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount and a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrades increases with the number of items that are being upgraded, and can be increased by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.
In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no item upgrader available at the start of Icewind Dale. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are only accessible through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit as well as a drawback.
In Season 3, the upgrade system was altered a bit, with numerous new features added. After the player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level, will cost less. This is true even if those items come from another set of gear.
The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is cut too, but it is only available once certain milestones are achieved.
Crests
When upgrading gear in WoW, players have a couple of choices. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that crests are only able to be used to purchase equipment of a particular rank, and that each rank has its own requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and simplest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade requires up to 20 crests, contingent on the kind of gear that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by working through content at the appropriate level. This could mean engaging in outdoor activities or doing dungeons or raids in all difficulties to get equipment of lower tier or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. The crests can later be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.
The new currency system isn't difficult to use, however it brings some changes to the upgrade process. For example, once an item is at the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is designed to allow players to upgrade their equipment to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters, rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.
It's also crucial to choose crests wisely, as they have only one purpose. For instance it's best to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests with the best equipment available and then save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan to create. This is especially applicable to items like rings and trinkets that occupy multiple slots. The discount for the entire account is only applicable when all slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
