WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by +3. Each upgrade also boosts an unspecified substat.
Upgraded gear is generally more useful, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less valuable for those with lower requirements due to the requirement to roll a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. However, the item used to upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and can't be used again. Upgrades can be used to create the enchantments.
You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks to ensure that your equipment is up to date.
Upgrades will cost more depending on the item level, however, they are always cheaper than purchasing new equipment. For example, upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item from another player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used for weapons, armor, tools and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from item upgraders NPCs in a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon, or armor. button, which will display an image of the item when it is upgraded when the player has enough materials.
upgrade item costs vary depending on the
item level upgrade slot, and the current level of the item. For example weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with some upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of the Flightstones or the crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currencies.
Many locations have upgraders for their items which include the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and a possibility of obtaining an entirely new recipe. The discount for upgrades increases with the number of items being upgraded. It is also possible to be boosted by requiring players to complete specific achievements or complete quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an
Item Level Upgrade -

In Season 3 the upgrade system was altered a bit, with several new features added. Once the player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level, will cost less. This is regardless of whether the items come from a different set of equipment.
The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is account-wide. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain milestones in their achievement.
Crests
Players have a number of options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that crests can only be spent on gear of a specific rank, and that every rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the more complex one requires as many as 20 crests, based on the type of gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through finishing tasks at the appropriate level. This could be by doing outdoor activities or doing dungeons or raids in any difficulty to earn lower-level gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. Crests can be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.
The new currency system isn't complicated to use, but it brings some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, once an item reaches the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This is to allow players to get their gear up to the highest ilvl possible for all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.
Another significant modification is that crests have one purpose therefore it's essential to make use of them in a responsible manner. For instance it's best to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment you have and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you plan on making. This is especially true for items like rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character, which will only be able to avail the account-wide discount when all slots are full of high-quality gear.
