Item upgrades allow players to increase the level of equippable items like weapons, armor, and trinkets up to a certain amount. You can upgrade items at any NPC that accepts the appropriate currency.
Upgrade components are slotted into equipment to offer bonus effects and attribute bonuses. The majority of these upgrades are slot-restricted, but a few are universal.
Rerolling
A player can roll an item upgrade in Diablo 4. This is done through the Level Up mechanic, which suspends the game and displays a list of four randomly selected upgrades. The player is able to select one of the upgrades to continue the fight. Rerolling costs similar to a normal Level Up. However, players must be careful when selecting an upgrade since they will not know what the new stats will be until the item has been rerolled.
The upgrades of an
item upgrader are determined by the item's level of rarity and tier. Each level of an upgrade boosts the power of the item by +3. Alongside the primary bonus, a random additional stat could also be enhanced. Each upgrade level also increases the recycle value for an item's additional stats. Reroll allows players to alter the stats of weapons and armor.
Rerolling is common in the beginning of an game. Many players invest many gold dollars to roll their units up to 3-star, which can aid them in climbing the ranks faster. This method, often referred to as hyperolling by players who want to improve their game, is a viable option.
To reroll an item, players first need to unlock the Reroll Upgrade from the shop. Once the Reroll upgrade is unlocked, players can choose it at the lower part of the Level Up menu. The player can reroll up to 10 times per battle. After rerolling the item, its weight will remain unchanged. However its base power and upgrades are reset. The item is still able to be enchanted after rerolling.
Genshin Impact allows players to buy and use other mechanics, in addition to rerolling to boost their gacha performance. Sets
A set is a collection of objects that are all of the same category. For instance armor or weapons. Each item in the set is able to be upgraded to a higher level. Each upgrade boosts its damage or resistance to certain types of attacks. Additionally the upgraded item will exhibit one particular feature that is unique to other upgrades. This effect is usually denoted by a special symbol.

The Desert Voe set, for instance, has the Stealth Up effect that makes it easier to sneak past enemies.
There are also universal upgrades that can be incorporated into any kind of equipment. These upgrades offer smaller bonuses than the type-restricted ones, but are easier to obtain. Some of these upgrades can be transformed into gems by a jeweler and can be used to upgrade any trinket slot. Other upgrade components can only be used in weapon accessories, and offer a small bonus without increasing damage.
Requirements
The ability to upgrade items is an essential aspect of increasing your character performance and effectiveness in combat. Upgrades can increase the stats of an item, or add a prefix or suffix. The amount of stats an item can boost is contingent on its rarity. Upgrades are available in dungeons, raids or bought from vendors. You can also obtain them in random items or by taking loot from other players.
There is no solution to the "not worth it" feeling that some players experience when upgrading certain items. Ideally, the game would give more information about an upgrade in its compare interface, such as "X stats gained and X stats lost." However, this isn't practical to implement due to how many layers of complexity are involved in the process of comparing. There's too little space to perform it correctly in the UI.
A script that checks the requirements of an item's upgrade before allowing the item to be upgraded is an alternative solution. This is a good option for systems with a relatively small number of upgradeable items and a few upgrade item;

Costs
Upgrades to gear can boost its physical power, spell power, and health (for rings and armor) or provide a bonus effect when it's in your inventory. You can either craft upgrade components or buy them from vendors. You can also collect or drop them from other players or get them as rewards. Upgrade components can be put into weapons, armor, and trinkets. They can also be mounted to gathering tools. Most upgrade components can only be replaced with an Upgrade Extractor. However, there are exceptions for glyphs, which can be salvaged by using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool.
The cost of upgrading an item could be gold or Dilithium, depending on the item type. Many upgrades also require Flightstones or crests. The amount of crests or Flightstones needed to upgrade an item varies on the gear's level and a maximum upgrade level is set by Blizzard. Upgrading to the highest upgrade level is expensive, especially when you're upgrading gear for PvE.
Upgrades can also alter a weapon's ammunition or damage die size. They also can alter the weapon's special properties like its bulky or operative property, or hand requirement. Certain upgrades can even alter a weapon's appearance.
While increasing stats is the main goal of upgrades to items, you should consider the cost of upgrading an item before making the decision. Spend your gold on rare items, and not on items that are of the common or magical level. Upgrades to these items can waste precious resources, and you'll discover that rare equipment is superior to them.
Ask your guild members for their opinions in case you aren't sure if upgrading is worth the cost. You may be able to find better upgrades at lower costs.
