WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by +3. Each upgrade also boosts a random substat.
The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the item is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect model.
Recycle Points
The
item upgrader mod upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the
item level upgrade will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create the enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in all major cities and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader once every couple of weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.
The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current level of the
item upgrade being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For example, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points, while purchasing the same item from a different player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapons, armor, tools and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners for a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor with an button, which will show a preview of the item at the next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.
The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item and current
item upgrade level, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Some upgrades offer discounts on Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currency types.
Upgraders for items are available in a variety of locations including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and the chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases according to the number of items being upgraded. It is also possible to be increased by having players complete specific achievements or complete quests.
In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no upgrader for items in the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead the NPCs that can be used to upgrade must be acquired through a variety of means which is both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.
In Season 3, a number of new features have been added to the upgrade system. When a player has an upgrade to a certain level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading additional items to that level will cost less, even when they belong to a different gear set.
The amount of Valorstones required to upgrade is reduced and the discount is affixed to all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievement.
Crests
When it comes to upgrading gear in WoW players have a few options. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specialized and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that crests are only able to be spent on gear of a specific rank, and that every rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and easiest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade requires up to 20 crests, depending on the type of gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through completing content at the appropriate level. This could mean engaging in outdoor activities or doing dungeons or raids in all difficulties to get lower-level gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons with a heroic difficulty to obtain endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an item upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and paths.
The new currency system isn't difficult to use, however it does bring some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it no longer requires Flightstones. This change is designed to allow players to upgrade their gear up to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also essential to use crests with care, since they only have one use. For instance, it's a good idea use all of your Whelpling-rank crests with the best gear you have available and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you're planning to create. This is particularly true for items such as trinkets and rings that take up multiple slots. The discount for the entire account will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
