World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric stats on weapons, armor and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as crit chance and PvE Damage.

imageFor instance a weapon that has the upgrade template that is ending in % will gain 3damage to attack each time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).

Item upgrading costs crests and the item's current level. The cost increases with the item's level.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into armor, weapons, and trinkets to give an extra stat boost or effect while they're in use. They can be obtained through making crafts, buying from vendors or trading with other players, or looting. Some upgrades also have specific cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment that has a slot to accommodate them. The item must have been at least upgraded to the blue level to allow a component to be inserted. Upgrade components, unlike other mods, can only be applied only once. They cannot be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and Enrichments are type of upgrade component that can be used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and ascending equipment, as other items that are not ascended. Infusions and Enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment from the ascended state or completing a quest in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

A prefix or suffix can be added to an upgrade, changing the name of the item it's applied to (for instance, 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' is changed to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, which lets players to create stronger versions of the item using less upgrade crystals than they require to achieve the same level using standard methods.

A boost upgrade can change the attack or defense attributes of the weapon or armor. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist the upgrades can be created at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades are available for purchase them in the cash shop, or by obtaining them from enemies when upgrading other gear.

Each upgrade increases the probability that a better-quality version of the item will be dropped at the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to keep improving their equipment even if they're not sure of how much it will improve after a future reset.

Whether a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process can be expensive, and there is a significant risk that the item may be obsolete or even break if it fails; a failure to upgrade can cause the destruction of Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder as well as the upgraded item. This is mitigated by the availability of cash shop items to increase or even eliminate the chance of failure, and some upgrades that offer a bonus when reinserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to improve the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets that are specifically designed for. Glyphs boost the power of all nodes within a radius around them as well as existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded many ways, and we recommend getting them to level 15 as soon as you can.

It is commonplace to see in the endgame that placing Glyphs is the most effective method to upgrade your gear. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded straight to level 15, and they provide significant boosts to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to reach higher nodes much faster.

Glyphs, the sole upgrade component which can be removed without restriction and replaced with no restrictions are the most commonly used. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and then re-install.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it in your inventory. You can replace it with another Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.

There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of an Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain unlimited-use gathering tools, and through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt could drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs which you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Once you have the desired Glyphs then you have to put them on your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a unique bonus that can boost the stats of a specific set of nodes within a radius around the Glyph. It can be +40 for one of your primary stats or +25 for two of your secondary stats based on the Glyph.

Glyphs boost all nodes that are connected to them, which is why it is recommended to place Glyphs in key spots on the Graph. This will maximize the impact. Druids, for example should put their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They may also consider placing them near their primary damage nodes.

Leveling

The item upgrading system allows players to improve the performance of certain items by placing upgraded components into them. This is often referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item has a level, which determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be upgraded up to a maximum level of ilvl 385. Each level of an item requires a different amount of components and the cost of upgrading increase as the item is upgraded.

Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient can be obtained by the completion of Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or on the upgrade items tab of the crafting table. Each completed Upgrade Recipe earns a number of Technology Points. These points can be used to the upgrading of an Best item upgrader. When enough points have been earned, you will be eligible to claim the upgrade and receive its additional bonuses.

When a player upgrades an item, the base item is replaced with a new item of the same kind. This means that the same armor piece will become a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will also have a unique bonus. This could be a drawback because it can cause the item to become more expensive if you do not require it.

Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled, provided that the player has enough reroll tokens to do so. This causes the item to be exchanged for a new one, with an initial level and a different set of bonuses. This can be beneficial however it should not be used frequently as it can waste resources.

Certain upgrades can be rerolled multiple times to increase their value, allows the player to modify their gear. A good example of this is Dolphin's Gift, which gives a buff when the player repeatedly enters and exits water (or swims like a dolphin). The item can be upgraded many times and increases the maximum roll each time by 10 increments. This Best item upgrade can be extremely valuable in PvP as an item that is properly rolled it could be worth between 20 and 50x its non-upp'd value.

Requirements

Item upgrading allows players to increase the level of their available equipment--armor, weapons, and trinkets above ilvl 385--by offering the appropriate currency and items to an NPC who upgrades items. Upgrades to armor set pieces boost the defense of the base set and upgrades to weapon items increase the damage they deal as well as the required strength and dexterity.

All items can be upgraded a maximum of five times, with the exception of hero gear that can be upgraded up to eight times. Every time you upgrade an object it has a chance of failing. The probability of failure increases as you move beyond the maximum number. Failures will result in the item reverting to its original state which means that the player has to spend additional resources than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum number.

If an item isn't upgraded the experience bar in its growth bar will reset to zero.image
