WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades can give you an increase in specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of the
item upgrader mod by +3. Each upgrade also increases the random substatus.
Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as useful for the latter due to the requirement to roll a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of armor or weapons. However, the item used to upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can be used to create Enchantments.
You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every couple of weeks to keep your equipment up to date.
Upgrades will cost more depending on the level of the
item level upgrade, but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment. For instance, upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points purchasing a similar piece from a different player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used for tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. They are purchased by players from
item upgrader NPCs in exchange for different currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor. The button will show a preview of an
item upgrades's next upgrade level in the event that there are enough materials.
The cost of upgrading is based on the item slot and the current item level, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain amount it is able to be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currency types.
Many locations offer
item upgrader mod upgraders in addition to the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon and a possibility of obtaining a new recipe. The discount for upgrades increases depending on the amount of items that are being upgraded. It is also possible to be increased by having players complete specific achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at the start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. Instead, the NPCs that can be used to upgrade are acquired via various methods, which is both an improvement but also a drawback.
In Season 3, the upgrade system was modified a bit, and some new features added. Once a player has upgraded to a certain item level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level, will cost less. This is true even if the items come from a different set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is available across all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players reach certain milestones in their achievements.
Crests
When upgrading gear in WoW players have a couple of options. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specific and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a crucial part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
The first thing to be aware of is that crests are only able to be spent on equipment of a particular rank, and every rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complicated can require as much as 20 crests depending on the type of gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through completing content at the appropriate level. This could be done by doing outdoor activities or doing dungeons or raids in all difficulties to get equipment of lower tier or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons with heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. Crests can be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.
The new currency system isn't complicated to use, however it brings some changes to the process of upgrading. Once a piece of gear has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.
Another notable change is that crests only have one use and it's crucial to make use of them in a responsible manner. For instance it's
Best item upgrader to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment available, and then save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning on making. This is particularly applicable to rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character, which can only be eligible to avail the discount for all accounts when all of the slots are filled with top-quality equipment.
