WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades can give you boosts in certain statistics. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. A random extra substat is also boosted alongside every upgrade.
The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless it is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are not as valuable for those with lower requirements because of the requirement to roll an exact version.
Recycle Points
The
item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create Enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in every major city, and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your equipment. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader each couple of weeks.
The cost of upgrading will depend on the current
item level upgrade level of the equipment being upgraded, but will always be less expensive than buying new equipment from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapon, armor, tool and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners in a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor with a The button will display the item's next level of upgrade, if there are enough materials.
Upgrade costs differ based on the
item level upgrade slot, and the current level of the item. For instance, weapons will cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with some upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of Flightstones or crests used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain amount it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.
Item upgraders can be found in a variety of locations including the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount and the chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at the start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead, the NPCs that can be used to
upgrade item must be acquired through several methods that are both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.
In Season 3, the upgrade system was tweaked a bit, with several new features added. Once the player has upgraded to a certain item level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same level, will cost less. This is true even if the items come from another set of gear.
The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is reduced too, but it is only available once certain milestones have been reached.
Crests
Players have a variety of options for upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.
The first thing to note is that crests can only be used to purchase equipment that is of a particular rank, and every rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and simplest upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complex requires as many as 20 crests based on the type of gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by completing tasks at the appropriate level. This could be by engaging in outdoor activities or doing dungeons or raids in any difficulty to earn lower-tier gear or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons with heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. The crests can later be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.
The use of these currencies isn't too complicated, but the system introduces some modifications to the upgrade process. For example, once an item is at the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest level possible for all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.
Another significant modification is that crests have one use therefore it's essential to use them wisely. For instance, it's best to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the best equipment you have, and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you're planning on making. This is particularly applicable to items like trinkets and rings that fill several slots. The discount for the entire account is only applicable when all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
