What is Pragmatism?

This method led to a distinct epistemological outlook which was a fallibilist and anti-Cartesian explication of the norms that govern inquiry. Additionally, pragmatists such as James and Dewey supported an alethic pluralism regarding the nature of truth.
Many pragmatists dropped the term when the Deweyan period faded and the analytic philosophy grew. However, some pragmatists continued develop the philosophy, including George Herbert Mead (who contributed to feminist feminism) and Dorothy Parker Follett (who considered an organizational function). Other pragmatists were interested in realism broadly conceived - whether as scientific realism which holds the view that truth is a monism (following Peirce), or an alethic pluralism that is more broad-based (following James and Dewey).

There are pragmatics from Europe, America and Asia who are interested in a wide range of subjects, from Native American philosophy to environmental sustainability.
