World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades are a way to increase the stats of an item. Depending on the upgrade type it can raise an item's Mark level or Rarity and boost additional stats.
Upgrading gear in The War Within requires a certain number of Flightstones and Crests, and each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the price of the next
Best item upgrader by a certain amount.
Item Level
When an item gets upgraded, its stats increase in value. This value is the sum of all of an item's leveled-up perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrading items can be expensive depending on the upgrader and what type of upgrade you choose to perform. This is due to the fact that many perks need to be replaced to allow the item to get upgraded.
It is also used as a gating requirement when queueing for raids, dungeons and scenarios. It is also used to limit the amount of PvP gear players are able to wear since PvP is not available at lower levels. Players can view their average level of item on their character sheet.
When deciding to purchase or sell equipment, players can compare the item level. It's an excellent indicator of the quality of an item and the amount of damage it's capable of dealing with. Comparing items from the inventory of a seller can be done by using the item level.
The level of the item can be seen by pressing the ALT key on PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will show the full item description, including its ilvl. It is also accessible by hovering an item with the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel into chat.
There are various theories about how the calculation of the item's level is made. One theory says that the level of an item is calculated using formulas that determine how valuable the stats of an item really are. It considers the fact that various perks have different value and that gems in sockets increase the value of the item overall. This process can result in a calculated value for the item's ilvl, which is typically close to Blizzard's real level of the item.
This isn't the only factor that affects the ilvl of an item. The location of where the item was dropped can alter its stats. For instance, it could add a level to the item's haste or crit rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have more value than items dropped in lower-level instances.

Item stats are a big part of what determines the value of an item for players. The game utilizes them in various ways to encourage players not to limit themselves to a single weapon, and to encourage them to try out other weapons. The base stats of a weapon are increased by the weapon's stat modifications, which are themselves enhanced by the player's level.
The upgrades to an item can increase the stats of an item. The rarity of an item determines the cost of upgrading. A grey or white item for instance, will only be upgraded once, while an item with rare tiers can be upgraded multiple times with higher prices.
Affixes are a different method to change an item's stats. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item. Affixes can provide the item extra damage, add a special capability to the item (such as reviving dead or cutting down the cooldowns), or make the item unique by adding a special name to the item.
All affixes can be currently re-rolled by selecting them in the upgrade window, and pressing the green button. This procedure will cost the player a specific amount of gold and other items that can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as the other rerolling options.
Players can upgrade an item by a specific stat or reroll affixes. The possible ranges of stats for an item are determined by the level of the item, but every item is guaranteed to have at least one stat within the range, unless it is a unique item or the result of a God roll from a raid boss.
Another thing that could change is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to roll the attaches, or select which stats to boost. Similar to base equipment, it would have to be done per item, and the interface for item comparison wouldn't display all possible stats at once.
Item Luck
The Luck stat of a player boosts the probability of obtaining items and the properties that are spawned by loot and the strength of these properties. However, it does not directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It simply gives players the possibility to obtain better gear in earlier waves and is therefore more valuable in the early game than in later ones, as most players prioritize greater weapon scaling and defense over damage gains.
Luck can also boost the chances of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith’s overall chances of upgrading that increase with each level of the item. It is also possible to be enhanced by using anti-materials, such as the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.
Weapons, shields, and armor can spawn or be crafted using the Luck property, with the default value of 40. These items can be augmented by using golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the material they are made of) to add another 40 luck or to boost an item's existing Luck up to 140.
Furthermore some items, like the Hollow weapon, which is infused with Hollow can be outfitted to increase the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items are available from the shop or constructed using the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Upgrades to items are costly and not every upgrade will be successful. However, there are some cash shop items that allow players to increase their success rate or prevent themselves from losing an item in the event that the upgrade fails.
When you upgrade an
Best item upgrader, the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage is the probability of successful upgrading an item. This can be increased by using Additional Materials or Special Materials. The percentage of success can only be increased by so much, and the likelihood that the upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%.
The Luck of an item can affect the effectiveness of an upgrade. All items have an average success rate of 25 percent and every item with Luck increases the chance of success by 5percent.
Note that item upgrades are rendered above the items in the inventory, so enchantment glint and other effects can be masked by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the
Item Upgrader CORE client config.
