The upgrade system in World of Warcraft allows players to increase the level of their equipment by spending currency at an item upgrader NPC. The item will be able to keep its previous upgrade stats, but will gain an extra bonus from its new base type. The bonus will be randomly chosen from the following: a chance to obtain weapons with a greater damage range or an increased reload speed or the chance to obtain a higher max defense roll.

The number of upgrades you make will determine the amount of extras you receive. Each upgrade boosts the corresponding extras by a factor of one, up to a maximum of 3. Each upgrade will also increase the stats of the main game by +1.

In addition to the stat boosts Certain upgrades can give a random secondary boost. These secondary boosts are extremely beneficial and should be taken into consideration when deciding which items to upgrade. Some boosts are beneficial in certain builds (such as Whistan's shield in FB sorcs) while others can provide a great deal of value to certain collectors.

Certain items come with inherent boos that are less beneficial when upgraded, like the Goldwrap which gives more slots for potion. These are usually upgraded to increase the value of a perfect or near-perfect item upgrade.

Costs

Upgrades are accompanied by certain costs associated with them. The first is the cost for the upgrade. The cost is based on the new ilvl of the item and the number of perks it will gain and is often expensive. It can also be expensive to upgrade an item to a higher level (such as Explorer > Champion, or Veteran > Heroic).

The other is the cost of materials needed for an upgrade. These items are typically Power Dices (dropped from monsters 21+), Minerals and Erons or a specific Mists Of Pandaria or Warlords Of Draenor Quests. These items can be found in the inventory of an upgrade vendor.

This calculation determines new Armor Class bonuses, damage dice, as well as other important stats. In certain cases the upgrade will provide additional advantages that can be picked from a list of available advantages.

Rarely, the new benefits gained will cost more than one perk slot In these cases the upgrade will replace the most expensive perks. The upgrader may also make other modifications to the item, such as changing the type of damage it deals to its weapon, or adding or eliminating an operational or unwieldy feature. These changes are based on an item's ilvl and may require special materials, such as Adamantine.

Success Rate

The process of upgrading an item is dependent on the chance. Like any random system there is a chance that it will not succeed. There are a number of ways to increase your chances of success. This includes the use of an Upgrade Pity or adding extra materials to your upgrade.

An Upgrade Pity is an Best item upgrade you can purchase from the smithing NPC in Lost Ark. It increases the odds of a successful upgrade by some percentage. It is similar to the "luck bonus" that some items offer however it is more solid. It can be added to any armor or weapon and can be used up to three times.

You can also add additional materials to the upgrade to increase the chances of success. These are shown in a window above the + button. However, there are limitations to this, and the largest amount of material that can be added is shown right above the + button in the user interface.

A Blacksmith Blessing or an upgraded version thereof can be used to boost the chances of an upgrade being successful. This item is useful in the event that you have an item of equipment that is at the maximum level for its tier, or is close to it. It will let you upgrade the equipment to the next level without having to worry about it breaking.

If an upgrade fails the system will be restored to its original condition. This is usually a break, but it can also be an upgrade. It is recommended to save an upgrade when you are close to the highest level of an item, and use it as an option last resort.

There are many items in the Kafra shop that can be used to boost the likelihood of an upgrade succeeding. For example upgrading an item of equipment using HD Oridecon or HD Elunium repeatedly will give you more chance of success. In the same way, increasing the likelihood to receive a Double Mint from Shoe-Minting a maximum of five times will increase the success rate.

Failure Rate

The item upgrader allows players to add an additional card slot into their equipment. These slots can be used to apply an enhancement or enchantment to an item. It is important to note that not all items can be upgraded. The enchantment and upgrade rate depends on the item's rank. The higher the rank of the item, the more Zeny and items are required to upgrade it.

The system is expensive especially if you're seeking top-of-the-line equipment. Upgrades to weapons and armor can cost up to 100,000 z or 100 Carnium. The rate of success decreases as you go up in rank. However, you can use cash shop items to increase your chances of completing an upgrade efficiently.

Normal Upgrade is the most basic upgrade that can be carried out on armor pieces, weapons and bicycles. It uses different core grades depending on the kind of item. Most commonly, lower grade items will require lower grade cores while items with higher quality will require more expensive ones.

You must have the right number of cores in order to do an upgrade normally. Once you have them, click the button next to the item you want to upgrade. The upgrade window will then display a percent indicator of your chances of success. The percentage is based on the level of upgrade and the core type of the product you have selected.

You can also select a safeguard for your item that will safeguard the item in the event of failure. The cost of this protection may differ, but it will always be less expensive than the cost of buying a new item. The protection can be used once per upgrade, and will not expire unless it is re-used.

imageThe interface for the item upgrader is a bit confusing, but isn't impossible to navigate. The main menu is displayed on the left and the upgrade window on the right. The arrows on the left of the UI indicate the different stages of the upgrade process. Click the question mark icon to seek assistance if you're unsure what you're doing. The process of upgrading could take as long as five minutes.
