WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades give you boost in certain statistics. Each upgrade increases item level by +3. Each upgrade also increases the random substatus.
Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like the eth Titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item that is used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.
You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear current, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each few weeks.
The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current level of the equipment being upgraded, but will always be less expensive than buying new equipment from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar
item upgrading, it will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used for weapon, armor, tool and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners for various currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor with an button, which will display a preview of the
item level upgrade at the next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.
Upgrade costs differ based on the slot for the item and the current level of the item. For example, weapons will cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each
upgrade item costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain degree it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.
Upgraders for items can be found at many locations, including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and the possibility of obtaining an entirely new recipe. The discount for upgrades increases depending on the amount of items that are being upgraded, and can be increased by having players complete some specific achievements or complete quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an
item upgrader at the beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead, the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades require a variety of means that are both an improvement but also a drawback.
In Season 3, many new features have been added to the upgrade system. After a player has earned an
upgrade items to a specific item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading further items to that level will cost less, even when they belong to a different gear set.
The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is account-wide. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievement.
Crests
Players have several choices when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that Crests are only available to equipment that is with a certain rank. Each rank has a different upgrade path. The simplest and simplest
upgrade item is 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade can require up to 20 crests, contingent on the type or gear that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through working through content at the appropriate level. This could mean engaging in outdoor activities or doing dungeons or raids in all difficulty levels to obtain lower-level gear or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for endgame gear. Crests can be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.
The new currency system isn't difficult to use, however it does bring some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, when an item reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest level possible for all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.
Another significant change is that crests only have one use, so it's important to use them properly. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment that you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is especially true for items like rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character that will be able to avail the account-wide discount when all of the slots are full of high-quality gear.
