What is Pragmatism?
People who are pragmatic tend to focus on actions and solutions that are likely to be successful in the real world. They don't get bogged down by a set of idealistic theories that may not be practical in the real world.
This article examines the three fundamental principles of practical inquiry. It also offers two project examples that focus on the organizational processes in non-governmental organizations. It argues that pragmatism provides an important and useful research methodology to study these dynamic processes.
It's an attitude
It is a method of tackling problems that considers the practical results and consequences. It prioritizes practical results over emotions, beliefs and moral principles. But, this way of thinking may lead to ethical dilemmas if it is not compatible with moral values or principles. It is also prone to overlook the longer-term consequences of decisions.
Pragmatism is a philosophical approach that first emerged in the United States around 1870. It is a growing alternative to continental and analytic philosophy traditions around the world. The pragmatics Charles Sanders Peirce and William James (1842-1910) were the first to articulate it. They defined the philosophy in the publication of a series of papers, and later promoted it through teaching and demonstrating. Their students included Josiah Royce (1855-1916) and John Dewey (1859-1952).
Early pragmatists were skeptical of foundational theories of justification which believed that empirical knowledge is based on a set of unchallenged, or "given," beliefs. Pragmatists such as Peirce or

The bibliometric indicators include publications by year and the top 10 regions. They also include journals, universities research fields, research areas, and authors. The scientometric indicators include co-citation, citation, and co-occurrence.
The results show that the amount of pragmatics research has significantly increased over the past two decades, and reached a peak during the past few years. This growth is mainly due to the growing interest in the field and the increasing need for research in the area of pragmatics. Despite its relatively recent origin the field has grown into an integral part of linguistics, communication studies and psychology.
Children develop their basic pragmatic skills from early infancy and
